Acupressure Facial Massage for a Beautiful Visage

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture has been gaining popularity in recent years. Sandra Bullock turns 50 this year, and she looks fantastic, maybe in part because she gets cosmetic acupuncture three times a week!

In addition to facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatments, I like my patients to learn as many self-care tools as possible. Dietary therapy, rollers and cups, and facial massage are all parts of our treatment plan. Facial self-massage can help firm muscles, increase local circulation, release tension, and brighten the complexion. The good news is that the following massage techniques can be done anywhere, anytime, and will only take a few minutes each day.

Eyes: Using both hands, place the index and middle fingers at the inner corner of each eye. First gently stroke down the side of your nose to the side of your nostril, and then reverse the movement, stroking upwards. From there, gently stroke from the inner eyebrow outward and slightly upward above brow line toward the temples. Repeat 9 times.

Cheeks and Mouth: Bring 2-3 fingers to the corners of each mouth. Stroke upward and at a slight diagonal towards the cheekbones. Play with changing the diagonal angles after 3-4 swipes. Repeat 9 times.

Chin: Take the pads of your thumbs under the chin at the midline. Gently stroke outward and upward under the jawline. Repeat 9 times.

Throat: Place the middle three fingers of each hand at the base of the throat. Gently sweep fingers upward toward the corner of the jaw. Repeat 9 times.
