Today is the first day in the lunar calendar, and the start of the year of the dragon. The dragon is a particularly auspicious symbol, and this year will likely bring rapid and unpredictable changes. This year is an opportunity for growth, and as such it is an appropriate time to make adjustment to your life.  Some of the changes ahead may stir up anger or unhappiness, so it is especially important to stay creative and positive.

In Chinese Astrology, people born in the year of the dragon are revered as the luckiest of the 12 astrological signs. Dragons are natural leaders with powerful, charismatic personalities.  They are vivacious, loyal, excitable, and always up for a challenge; however, dragons also have a tendency to be impatient or arrogant.

The Chinese new year is a major holiday China. It is a time to gather with family and friends, wish others good fortune, exchange money in lucky red envelopes, watch fireworks, and eat special treats. Traditions observed before and during the new year, such as cleaning the house, hanging special decorations, and wearing new clothing, help usher out the old year and welcome in good fortune it the new year.

I wish you xīn nián kuài lè! May happiness, good fortune, and prosperity be yours in 2012!
